Black Horse Sweet Pepper
Rare Heirloom Open-pollinated
Jet black, blocky yet pointy peppers around 7-9cm are visually stunning!
Early maturing 70-80 days after transplant they are a delight to watch as they transition to deep red. More than just a pretty face, they are thick walled, uniquely sweet, juicy and fruity, they are enjoyed fresh or stuffed and baked.
Strong compact, bushy plants reach 50-60cm and produce right through the season and I'm even picking a few smaller fruits in Cape Town's mild winter.
Sowing: Pepper seeds benefit from bottom heat and germinate quickly in warm soil. Start seeds late winter to early spring in trays with moisture retentive, well-draining soil and keep damp not wet. Cover seeds with 5mm of soil. Cover seed trays to hold the humidity in. Germination occurs at 24-29C. Remove cover once sprouts are up.
Quantity: 10 seeds
