Chinese Pink Celery Apium graveolens var dulce
Rare Edible Herb Edimental Heirloom
Pretty in pink! If a vegetable, especially greens, can offer a colour too why not! I adore these baby pink, slender stems adding candy vibes to salads or just used as you would regular celery. The flavour is punchy with subtle herbal, salty notes. The texture is crispy and juicy and the cooler the weather, the brighter the healthy anthocyanin pink becomes. In South Africa summer full sun conditions may cause dry, bitter stems so rather opt for a partially shaded area and keep well watered.
Growing: Plant height 40- 50cm
Surface sow seeds in late winter/ spring. Celery seeds need light to germinate so surface sow. Keep trays covered so seeds stay moist.
Quantity: 50 seeds minimum
