Zapotec Brown
Rare Exclusive Trending Heirloom Open-pollinated
Voted my Number One variety for the last 2 years!!!!
Zapotec Brown is something extra special when it comes to tomatoes. This incredible, ribbed, Mexican heirloom begins fruiting mid season and continues right through till late autumn, cropping heavily and consistently. I got 50+ fruits from one plant. The sizes are mostly medium to large. Now lets talk about the colour. It is such a deep chocolate burgundy giving you a strong idea of the flavour. Intense, rich, saucy like a slab of slow cooked beef. The fresh taste is that of an heirloom roasted tomato, very complex, but once cooked the smokey notes intensify. Pair with meats, have a roasted tomato sourdough toast or blend the roasted tomatoes and stir through some pasta with a sprinkle of fresh basil and a splash of balsamic.
The genetics are prone to cat-facing and I adore the weird and whacky giant monsters. Weird on the outside, but perfectly normal inside and ready to be sliced. Great conversation pieces!
